The top environmental regulator of East China's Anhui province released a list ranking 16 prefecture-level cities by air quality between January and October.

Huangshan topped the list, followed by Xuancheng and Lu'an, according to the Department of Ecology and Environment of Anhui Province.

Six indexes were used to assess air quality, including PM 2.5, PM 10 and CO.

The province's average concentration of PM 2.5 reached 44 micrograms per cubic meter and blue sky days accounted for 72.2 percent of all days in the first ten months this year.

Huaibei, Huainan and Bengbu were at the bottom of the list.

Among the 16 cities, Suzhou saw the biggest improvement in air quality from the same period last year, followed by Bozhou and Xuancheng.
