Another 47 Sites in Anhui under Nat'l Protection

The State Council, China’s cabinet, released a list of 762 major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level on Wednesday, including 47 ones in East China’s Anhui province.

The list, the eighth of its kind, comprises 762 entries. 167 out of them are historic sites, 30 ones are ancient tombs, 280 ones are ancient buildings, 39 ones are cave temples or stone inscriptions, and 234 ones are contemporary sites. The rest 50 ones were incorporated in major historical and cultural sites on the previous lists.

Five historic sites, two ancient tombs, 25 ancient buildings, two cave temples or stone inscriptions, and 11 contemporary sites in Anhui were included in the list. Another two sites in the province became part of two previously-listed major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level.

Among the 47 sites in the province, 18 ones are located in Huangshan city.
