A meeting was held on Monday in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, to celebrate the 50th World Standards Day.

Enterprises and public institutions in the province have participated in developing 27 International Standards, 2,207 national standards, 2,788 industry standards and 2,379 local standards, the provincial administration for market regulation said at the meeting.

Up to now, 5,566 local companies have reported 29,206 standards covering 37,525 products, and 54 social organizations have published 112 group standards on ttbz.org.cn, a national platform for group standards.

The province has won four first prizes, nine second prizes and ten third prizes in the "China Standard Innovation Awards".

Standards are indispensable in Anhui’s transforming economic growth mode, increasing independent innovation capacity, and promoting economic and social development, according to the administration.

The World Standards Day, which falls on October 14 every year, pays tribute to the collaborative efforts of the experts around the world who develop International Standards. This year’s event is themed “Video standards create a global stage”.
