2019 Dangshan International Marathon Kicks off

More than 6,000 runners from home and abroad took part in the Dangshan Pear Orchard International Marathon in Dangshan county, East China’s Anhui province on Saturday.

As one of the highest-level marathons in China, the event was jointly launched by Anhui Provincial Administration of Sport, Anhui New Media Group, Anhui Athletics, Swimming and Diving Administration Center, Anhui Athletics Association, the Municipal Sport and Education Administration of Suzhou, the Government of Dangshan County, and the Tourism Development Committee of Dangshan County.

Kenyan athletes swept the top three both in women’s race (Chepkurui Nancy、Muriuki Jane Wanjiru, and Cherop Jane) and in men’s race (Onyancha George Nyamori、Muriuki Charles Mahiuha, and Kemboi Reuben).

Enit Yeko Moses from Kenya won the women’s half marathon race. Ethiopian runners Meskerem Tesfaye Fikadu and Leyu Adiss Hbete finished second and third. In the men’s half race, Maruka Linus Nabuswa、Nicholas Kipngetich Too, and Isaac Kipkorir, all from Kenya, claimed the top three.

Dangshan, a northern county known for pears, has hosted many sports events including international marathon races, equestrian games and cycling races in recent years.
