The Bengbu-Xi’an-Europe cargo train left Bengbu Railway Dry Port in Bengbu, East China’s Anhui province, for Moscow, Russia on Tuesday.

It is the first China-Europe cargo train from Bengbu. Loaded with building materials and bio-medicine, the train will arrive in Moscow via Xi’an Port in Xi’an, capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi province.

The launching of the train service is seen as part of Bengbu and Xi’an’s joint effort to implement the central government’s Belt and Road Initiative and its high-quality development strategy.

Bengbu and its neighbors will be able to transport exports to 12 countries and regions including Germany, Russia, Belarus, Finland and Kazakhstan by train.

According to a short-term schedule, the train runs once or twice on a weekly basis. More services will be launched in the future if necessary.

The train service will help local importers and exporters cut logistics costs and shorten delivery time. In the long run, their business environment will be improved, and their capacity to explore international markets will also be raised.
