29th International Laser Radar Conference Kicks off in Hefei

More than 500 scientists from around the world are gathering in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui province, for the ongoing 29th International Laser Radar Conference (ILRC).

It is the first time that the biennial meeting has been held in China.

Hosted by Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the event features new lidar technologies and techniques. It kicked off on Monday and will run through Friday.

The agenda includes keynote presentations, oral presentations and poster presentations.

Keynote speakers are Ken Jucks with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States, and Wang Yingjian, a professor with the Hefei Institute of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The ILRC, the top of its kind, is organized by the International Coordination-group for Laser Atmospheric Studies (ICLAS).

The ICLAS includes a chairman and 13 members from countries and regions such as the United States, Japan, Russia and China. The Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics is the only Chinese member of the organization.
