East China’s Anhui province spent 185 billion yuan (about $28 billion) in upgrading technologies in 2018, up 34.6 percent from a year earlier, according to the local Department of Economy and Information Technology.

This has been the highest growth since 2012.

Among those technological programs, 1,162 ones cost at least 100 million yuan each while 118 ones were worth 1 billion yuan or more.

Last year, the province mapped out two investment-oriented plans, seen as an important support to technological upgrading. The plans cover 3,976 programs worth 867.4 billion yuan, the department said.

Thanks to a slew of measures, Anhui posted steady growth in industrial development. Statistics showed the province’s value-added industrial output expanded 9.3 percent year-on-year in 2018, the highest growth during the past four years. In addition, its industrial profit rose 27.8 percent, representing the highest level since 2012.
