Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, hosted a meeting Tuesday on cooperation among the province, Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries in production capacity.

The meeting was jointly launched by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, also known as Forum Macao, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Anhui Provincial People’s Government.

Launched in October 2003, Forum Macao is a multilateral, intergovernmental cooperation mechanism aimed at promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries by using Macao as a connecting platform between those places.

Seven Portuguese-speaking countries - Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor - are regular participants.

China and those Portuguese-speaking countries have made remarkable achievements in trade, investment, human resources, finance and development aids.
