Anhui's per capita disposable income stood at 6,193 yuan ($900.1) in the first quarter of 2017 (Q1), up 9.0 percent year-on-year, official data showed on Sunday.

Among 31 Chinese mainland provinces, Anhui was ranked 14th by personal earnings, but climbed to the 8th spot in terms of income growth, according to the local statistics administration.

The eastern Chinese province came in at No.14 in the country, with its urban per capita disposable income at 8,689 yuan. It saw a year-on-year rise of 8.3 percent, ranking 8th. The growth rate slowed down from 8.7 percent during the same period a year ago.

Rural residents’ per capita disposable income reached 3,915 yuan in Q1, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.7 percent.

Ma’anshan city topped the income list, recording 11,236 yuan in per capita disposable income of urban residents. Hefei, capital of the landlocked province, and Wuhu city came behind, at 11,157 yuan and 10,170 yuan, respectively. Meanwhile, Hefei experienced the fastest growth of 9.1 percent in urban income.

Ma’anshan also outshone all the rest cities by registering 5,657 yuan in rural disposable income per capita.

The per capita income of urban households was 2.22 times that of rural households, down from 2.23 times in the Jan-Mar period of 2016, data from the administration showed.

The income gap narrowed as income distribution and its structure were improved and the quality of economic growth raised, local media said.
