After years of large-scale construction, the infrastructure has been promoted rapidly. The province has established a fast and readily accessed network of communications consisting of aviation, railroads and highways.

[Aviation]: There are four civil airports—Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, Huangshan International Airport, Fuyang Airport and Jiuhuashan Airport and a civil and military airport in Anqing. In 2015, the number of passengers handled by civil aviation airports in Anhui was 8.148 million person-times, up by 12.6 percent.

[Railroads]: Anhui has the status of connecting the east with the west in China’s transportation. The density of railway network tops the list in Eastern China. Wuhan-Hefei-Nanjing passenger transport line shortens the journey from Hefei to Shanghai and Wuhan to 3 and 2 hours respectively. Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railroad enables the trip from Hefei to Beijing to be finished in about four hours.

[Highways]: In 2017, the mileage of newly completed expressway, first-class highway and railroad lines in service were 130 km, 318 km and 22.4 km respectively.By the end of the year, the total length of expressway, first-class highway and railroad lines opened to traffic had reached 4,673 km, 4,151 km and 4,146.8 km respectively, of which that of the high speed railroad lines in service had been 1,379.1 km.

Fuyang and Bengbu are land ports that open to foreign freight. Waterway ports such as Wuhu, Tongling, Anqing, Ma'anshan and Chizhou are all open to foreign freight ships. The Wuhu port has a capacity of berthing 10,000-ton freight ships. The others are all equipped with a 5,000-ton deep water wharf. The access to the oceangoing route links Anhui with many other countries and regions in the world, which are able to load and download, import and export cargoes. With the three river systems, namely, the Yangtze River, the Huai River and the Xin'an River, the mileage of the inland navigable waterways extends more than 6,000 kilometers.
