Anhui is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Huai River and in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta. It stretches 450 kilometers from east to west and 570 kilometers from north to south. It has a land area of 139.4 thousand square kilometers, accounting for 1.45% of the total land area of China.
Anhui has 16 main cities, namely Hefei, Huaibei, Suzhou, Bozhou, Bengbu, Fuyang, Huannan, Chuzhou, Liu’an, Ma’anshan, Wuhu, Xuancheng, Tongling, Chizhou, Anqing and Huangshan.
Hefei, the capital city of Anhui, lies in the central region of the province. It is the political, economic, cultural, information, financial and commercial and trade center of Anhui, linking western and eastern regions and northern and southern regions.
