Huangshan City is located at the south end of Anhui Province. It has jurisdiction over Tunxi District, Huangshan District, Huizhou District, Shexian County, Xiuning County, Yixian County and Qimen County. It covers an area of 9,807 km2 and has a population of about 1.5 million.

The city is a popular tourist destination home and abroad. It boasts spectacular landscapes and profound culture heritages. Mt.Huangshan impresses all visitors with its fantastic pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds and hot spring. Guniujiang offers tourists a good opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sight and fresh air. Ancient villages mainly in Yixian county present idyllic settings with buildings constructed in the Ming and Qing Dynasty. As one of the four sacred Taoist mountains in China, Mt.Qiyun is an ideal place for people to learn Taoist culture and enjoy the natural sight.

The city is also known as the treasure of animals and plants. More than 3.000 kinds of plants grow here. Of which, 33 are protected at the national level. It is home to more than 490 species of wild animals. Of which, 28 are rare species.

Huangshan City is rich in mineral and water resources. 56 kinds of minerals have been discovered in the region. The average share of water resources amounts to 6.600 cubic meters, 3 times more than the national average share.

In addition, the city is not only an important production area for timber and bamboo in eastern China, but also a key production area for silk, fruits, edible mushrooms, and Chinese herbs. Huangshan Maofeng Tea, Taiping Houkui Tea, Qimen Black Tea and Tunxi Green Tea are well-known tea brands both at home and abroad. Huangshan chrysanthemum flowers, Santan loquats, Huizhou Chinese torreya are popular local products. The Huizhou ink sticks, “She” inkstone, Wan’an compasses and Huizhou woodcarving, bamboo carving and brick carving are well-known traditional handcrafts.
